Dam Excavation and concreting completed and miscellaneous works like parapet walls etc is in final stage. Head Race Tunnel, Pressure Shaft and Surge shaft including steel liner erection completed in all respects. Adits plugging and Tunnel cleaning is in progress.
Detailed Progress of the Project components as follows:
Concrete Gravity Dam:

Dam body excavation completed and more than 88756 cum of concreting completed out of 89380 cum. An innovative method is adopted to anchor the dam body in to rock surface by constructing the 62 m long drift and Key wall in the overburden material.

Drift & Key Wall:

62 m long drift in the overburden left back area of dam exacavation works started in two stages, vertical pits excavation and horizontal sequence of drifts excavation from top to bottom completed and rock clearing also completed. Concreting of about 3000 cim pouring from bottom most drift to top completed in three streches. Concreting completed upto required EL 2542.0

Head Race Tunnel (HRT) :

Head Race Tunnel excavation 4.987m has been taken up from 5 faces. Excavation of HRT face-3 & 4 took some more time due to bad rock strata, two times face-3 was detoured due to shear zones encountered. Excavation and concreting of entire HRT in all faces-2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 completed.

Surge Shaft

87 m high and 6 m diameter Surge Shaft has been constructed at the end of Head Race Tunnel, with bottom elevation as 2483 m and top elevation as 2570 m. Surge shaft concrete, shotcrete lining and grouting completed.
Pressure shaft:
A single pressure shaft of 190 m horizontal (top + Bottom) and 564 m high  vertical portion construction works including steel lining works has been completed in all respects.

Power House:

Excavation in the entire Power House complex as well aw concreting in Control Block and both Units including Tailrace pits and Tail Race cum Cables Tunnel have been completed. Electro-Mechanical Plant & equipment: Both Units (Unit#1 & 2) erection completed along with Balance of Plant (BoP). Dry Test completed for both units. Wet test and commossioning activities scheduled to be completed by May/jun 2011.

Switch Yard:

Outdoor switch Yard works completed in all respects.
