Status of the Project:
Project access Roads and Bridges has been completed and the ropeways have been completed for transportation of equipments & construction materials to various work fronts. 5 ton carrying capacity ropeway has been converted to 30 T/Hr Mono – Cable for transportation of materials like Aggregate, Sand, Cement & fly ash. Two 6 ton carrying capacity ropeways were constructed for transportation of steel ferrules & construction materials to Pressure shaft, surge shaft & HRT face – 6.
Project main civil works is under progress and Power House civil works has been completed and Electro-Mechanical equipments erection also completed. Dam Excavation completed and concreting is in advanced
stage. 95% of Head Race Tunnel excavation completed and pressure Shaft & Surge shaft excavation works completed and steel liner erection under progress.
Detailed Progress of the Project components as follows:

Concrete Gravity Dam:
Dam body excavation completed and more than 65430
cum of concreting completed out of 86000 cum.
An innovative method is adopted to anchor the dam
body in to rock surface by constructing the 62 m long
drift and Key wall in the overburden material.

Drift & Key Wall:
62 m long drift in the overburden material was successfully completed and Trench/Key wall excavation works started in two stages, Vertical pits excavation and Horizontal sequence of drifts excavation from top to bottom.
5 vertical pits/wells excavation completed and 3 horizontal drift out of 5 nos excavation completed and 4 & 5 horizontal drifts excavation is in progress.

Head Race Tunnel (HRT) :
All access ADITs to various work faces was completed and excavation in Face 2,3 and 4 is in progress.
Face 2, 5 & 6 excavation completed and lining works started. Face 2 lining works completed and face 5 & 6 is in progress.
4.63 Km tunnel excavation completed out of targeted length 4.95 Km.
Face – 3 & 4 excavation is in progress. Balance about 300 m excavation targeted to be completed by December 2009.

Surge Shaft
87 m vertical, Pilot excavation was successfully
completed using Alimak Raise Climber.
Slashing works completed and concreting planned to be
taken up soon.

Pressure shaft:
Single Pressure Shaft vertical portion of 566 m high and horizontal portion of 170 m long. Construction started in two work fronts to minimize the construction time period.
Pressure shaft Top Limb:
263 m high vertical shaft excavation was successfully completed and steel ferrule erection also been completed

Bottom Limb:
303 m high shaft pilot excavation and slashing
successfully completed. Ferrule erection is now in progress.
Horizontal Pressure Shaft:
Both top and bottom horizontal excavation was completed and bottom ferrule erection up to bifurcation completed

Power House:
Cavern Excavation completed and EOT crane
capacity of 130 T successfully erected and
operational.
Electro-Mechanical Plant & equipments erection
completed. Boxing up of both Unit # 1 & # 2 has
been completed.
Both Units dry testing completed and other BoP
items dry test is in progress

Switchyard:
Outdoor switchyard foundation works completed in all respects.
Transmission Line:
132 KV double circuit transmission line construction tworks in various tower locations is in progress and 40 nos of towers foundation works completed out of 50 Nos.
Tower erection works started and 17 towers erection completed in all respects out of 50 nos.
